Problem Statement Overview

Thank you for your interest in transportation research. From this page, you can learn about and submit needs and ideas for consideration as research projects. This is known as a Problem Statement.

CDOT Research Branch is seeking Problem Statements in all of our traditional subject areas. In addition, this year we are adding something new – specific Areas of Emphasis. 

The deadline for Problem Statement consideration in the current cycle is February 12, 2024.

If you are ready to submit a Problem Statement, here is the process.

Submitting a Problem Statement

• Use the Problem Statement Submittal Form. You will be asked to download and complete a Problem Statement Form and PowerPoint slide. Please rename these files as described in the instructions. Then fill out the form and, at the appropriate step, upload the Problem Statement and PowerPoint files.
