Full US 36 Closure Between Interlocken Loop and McCaslin Boulevard

March 7, 2014 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - BROOMFIELD – As part of the US 36 Express Lanes Project, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close eastbound and westbound US 36 overnight from Interlocken Loop to McCaslin Boulevard on Saturday, March 8, 10 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

This closure is necessary to demolish a utility structure that was built across US 36. The structure, which currently carries an irrigation pipe across the highway, will eventually be replaced with a bridge that will carry the pipe as well as a segment of the project’s new bikeway across US 36.

The closure is necessary for safety during the demolition. Drivers can detour via the attached route but are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal project that will build an express lane in each direction on US 36. The lanes will accommodate High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), Bus Rapid Transit and tolled Single Occupancy Vehicles. In addition, the project will replace several bridges, build a commuter bikeway, add Bus Rapid Transit improvements, and install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident management. Phase 1 is currently under construction from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street in Louisville/Superior and will open to the public in 2015. Phase 2 from 88th Street to Table Mesa Drive in Broomfield recently began construction and will open in 2016.
