State Highway 14 Coal Bank Creek Bridge Near Ault Successfully Replaced

September 5, 2013 - CONSTRUCTION PROJECT COMPLETE - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Project finished on time, budget.

WELD COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has successfully completed a bridge replacement project on State Highway (SH) 14 over the Coal Bank Creek. Located three miles west of Ault and east of the I-25 intersection, the project finished on time and on budget. It began in February 2013.

Built in 1935, the original bridge was structurally deficient and warranted replacement as a part of the Colorado Bridge Enterprise (CBE), which is part of the Funding Advancement for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery (FASTER) legislation. The bridge was replaced with a wider and higher structure that meets current standards. By replacing the Coal Bank Creek bridge, CDOT created a safer trip for drivers and also helped improve the drainage in the surrounding area.

In addition to replacing the bridge, crews also widened the existing roadway and made drainage improvements to the area.

SEMA Construction Inc. of Centennial, CO. was the contractor for this $3.7 million project.
