Brief Maintenance Resurfacing on US 160 in Mancos

May 7, 2013 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Highway to receive chip seal surface on short section at west side of town; motorists cautioned to drive slowly through work zone.

MANCOS – Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews will chip seal a short section of US 160 at the west edge of Mancos (MP 53.2 to 53.8) next Monday, May 13.

A chip seal is done as a preventative maintenance measure to extend the life of pavement that is in fairly good condition. The operation fills minor cracks and prevents oxidation of the asphalt, enabling it to maintain its flexibility. This chip seal is a follow-up from resurfacing that was done in this area a few years ago as part of an access project.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: During the one-day project, motorists will encounter single-lane closures and some delays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

CDOT crews greatly appreciate motorists’ patience during this brief maintenance project. Thank you for going “Slow for the Cone Zone!” To get information about other CDOT projects, the public may call 511, log onto CDOT’s traveler information site at www.cotrip.org or sign up to receive e-mails or text messages via CDOT’s web site at www.coloradodot.info.
