Project Update: US 160/491 South Broadway Reconstruction

April 2, 2013 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - CORTEZ - Colorado Department of Transportation contractor Lawson Construction activated the new signal at US 160/US 491 on March 29.

On April 1, crews conducted the requisite ‘smoothness’ test on the new concrete and during the remainder of this week, will smooth any rough areas with a process called diamond grinding.  Diamond grinding provides a smooth riding surface by removing faulting at joints and any other construction or environmental related rough areas.

In addition to the pavement smoothing, crews will be completing any final curb and gutter work and install signing and final striping (a combination of inlaid plastic markings and paint) by the end of the month.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:

The US 160/491 intersection is open. Motorists can expect intermittent single-lane closures and minor traffic delays, likely through the end of the month.

WORK HOURS:

Through the duration of the project, work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Sunday, weather permitting.
