US 287 Reconstruction and Widening Project to Begin Monday

March 1, 2013 - UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION PROJECT - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Work will take place north of Fort Collins

LARIMER COUNTY — On Monday, March 4, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin a reconstruction and widening project on U.S. 287 north of Fort Collins near Livermore. Work will take place between mile marker (MM) 366.59 and MM 367.15.

As part of the project, crews will lengthen the northbound U.S. 287 left turn lane onto Red Feather Lakes Road and will widen shoulders throughout the length of the project. Additionally, improvements will be made to the storm water management system to help with future drainage. The work will improve safety at the intersection of U.S. 287 and Red Feather Lakes Road and throughout the length of the project.

Work will take place beginning Monday, March 4 and lasting through May 2013. Most work will take place Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but as work progresses the hours will change to 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists can expect single lane closures throughout the project, as well as flaggers present on the highway. Delays should be minimal. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH, and CDOT urges motorists to drive Slow for the Cone Zone!

Coulson Excavating Co. is the contractor for this $1.1 million project. The project is funded through the Funding Advancements for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery (FASTER) legislation, which is dedicated to improving safety and replacing poor bridges.

Questions about the project can be directed to the public information phone line at 970-672-4774, or the contractor email address at [email protected].
