Mount Evans Road Open to Summit

June 2, 2011 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) opened State Highway 5 to the top of Mount Evans today (14,264 feet).

CDOT crews spent the last few days clearing snow from Summit Lake to the summit – about four miles.   The road was opened from Echo Lake to Summit Lake last Thursday but heavier than usual snowfall in May prevented CDOT from being able to open the highway to the top.
