Busy Season Underway for Highway Construction

June 3, 2011 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - PUEBLO – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is expected to have at least 35 projects under construction throughout southeastern Colorado this summer and fall, work that includes paving, bridge replacements, and minor widening.

“It’ll be another active construction season for us, which means motorists will encounter numerous cone zones throughout southeastern Colorado,” said CDOT Regional Transportation Director Tim Harris.  “I’m asking drivers to please slow down through our work areas for the safety of everyone – drivers and workers alike.”

“A significant amount of work will be underway on all our Interstates and other state highways this summer,” added Harris. “CDOT minimizes delays as much as possible by working at night and during off-peak hours, but motorists still need to plan ahead and expect some slowdowns as we improve our highway system, making it safer and more efficient for all our highway users.”
