Girder Installation Continues Tonight and Tomorrow Night at Arapahoe Road and Parker Road

February 15, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - ARAPAHOE COUNTY – Tonight, February 15th and tomorrow night, February 16th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will continue to install bridge girders for the new Parker Road bridge over Arapahoe Road.

The work will require full closures of Arapahoe Road at Parker Road each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

“The girder installation is taking longer than we anticipated, but our goal is to have the work completed by Thursday morning,” said CDOT Project Engineer Ed Bullard.  “If necessary, we will work on Thursday night, but only if we can’t install the remaining 12 girders over the next two nights.”

While the work is underway, the following detour routes will be in place:

  • Eastbound Arapahoe Road Detour: Motorists on eastbound Arapahoe Road will take a right onto Chambers Way and drive behind the Cornerstar Mall to Parker Road.
  • Westbound Arapahoe Road Detour: Motorists on westbound Arapahoe Road will take Lewiston Way north around Arapahoe Crossings mall to the traffic signal at Parker Road.

Delays are expected each night and alternate routes are strongly advised.  CDOT would like to remind motorists to plan ahead, obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Hamon Constructors, Inc. is the contractor for this $32 million project, which should be complete by the end of November 2011.
