Revised on July 24, 2023. This sheet is inserted into the Highway Plans set. It is used to show which New or Revised M&S Standards will be used by filling in the Standard's corresponding box.

Crash Cushions, End Treatments and Barrier Guide. The following guidance is provided by the Project Development Branch to aid designers in the proper selection of safety hardware. Unless specified for use by CDOT’s M&S Standard Plans or formally adopted for use by the Department, device selection and use is at the Engineer’s discretion. The Engineer should provide for competitive bidding between functionally equivalent devices when design conditions allow.
CDOT’s Standards & Specifications Unit and the Transportation Engineering Training Program (TETP) released a new e-learning course in 2019, "Guardrail Systems for Construction Engineers and Inspectors", which was accompanied by a Field Guide. This e-learning and field guide follow up complements the instructor-led course called Guardrail End Anchorage Systems for Construction Engineers and Inspectors.
